| History |
| |
GCYT, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Joann MacFall and Missy Nims in an attempt to provide an affordable and quality theatre experience for children in our community and surrounding communities.
- In our first season there were 72 children participating and a Musical Revue consisting of Grease, Oliver, Peter Pan, and The Sound of Music was performed with 1 cast. The first year was such a success that the program grew with great interest.
- Joann and Missy decided to form a board of 8 members to assist with the increase in membership and improve the program. Annie, Jr. with 2 casts and Music Man, Jr. with 1 cast were performed in our second year.
- The third year, Disney's Beauty and the Beast was performed with 2 casts and Bye, Bye Birdie was performed with 1 cast.
- The fourth year, we performed Oklahoma! with 2 casts and Disney's Aladdin, Jr. with 1 cast.
- The fifth year we performed Seussical with 2 casts and Rogers & Hammerstein's version of Cinderella with 1 cast.
- The 6th year, the kids performed Disney's Jungle Book, Willie Wonka, and The Sound of Music.
- Last year we performed Alice in Wonderland Jr. with two casts and Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dream Coat with one cast.
- The program has been growing each year and there are many lessons learned from each year that we improve upon the following year. We owe the success of this program to all of our participating families and volunteers. You always go above-and-beyond the call of duty and graciously donate your time.
