GCYT MISSION STATEMENT

GCYT, Inc.’s mission is to introduce live theatre to the children of Gananda and its  surrounding communities.  Our aim is to enable each child to learn about, participate in and provide ample opportunities to experience live theater; all while helping each child feel important by building their self-esteem and self-confidence.  The ability to offer our local communities the opportunity to enjoy quality productions of both well-known and less frequently seen musicals and plays is an amazing opportunity!

VISION STATEMENT

The vision of GCYT, Inc. is to provide an affordable, fun, high quality, and locally respected theatre experience for the children in our community.  By utilizing local businesses, community facilities, and dedicated students and parents we are able to provide children aged 1st through 8th grade the opportunity to experience all different levels of performing on the stage.  All aspects of the theatre environment are introduced to expand their knowledge of the profession in hopes that many children will aspire to join school productions, local theatre groups, and beyond.

GCYT strives to give back to the community in the form of Gananda Dollars For Scholars scholarships, volunteer opportunities for high school students, opportunities for possible free GCYT tuition and affordable family/community entertainment.  Our theater program will continuously improve while providing an environment that fosters teamwork and cooperation among everyone involved.  We are a non-profit group that is solely run by parent volunteers. Without the amazing dedication of our parent volunteers, GCYT would not be the successful organization it is today!

HISTORY

GCYT, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Joann MacFall and Missy Nims in an attempt to provide an affordable and quality theatre experience for children in our community and surrounding communities.  In our first season, GCYT had 72 children participating in a Musical Revue consisting of Grease, Oliver, Peter Pan, and The Sound of Music.  The first year was such a success that the program grew with great interest.   Joann and Missy decided to form a board of 8 members to assist with the increase in membership and improve the program.

Over the years, GCYT casts have performed: Annie, Jr., Music Man, Jr., Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Bye, Bye Birdie, Oklahoma!, Disney's Aladdin Jr., Seussical, Rogers & Hammerstein's version of Cinderella, Disney's Jungle Book, Willy Wonka, The Sound of Music, Alice in Wonderland Jr., Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, High School Musical Jr, The Aristocats, Narnia, 101 Dalmatians, Fame, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, Seussical Jr., Peter Pan Jr., Dr. Dolittle, and Shrek: The Musical Jr.

GCYT continues to grow each year.  Every season offers new lessons learned that are immediately improved upon the following year.  Member communication is vital to our improvement and continued success! We owe the success of this program to all of our participating families and volunteers.  You always go above-and-beyond the call of duty and graciously donate your time.  Please consider donating your time by joining our program as a board member - and help our children’s dreams come true on the stage!
